Whitney Houston gets her wish — she is inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on Nov. 7, 2020.
Nothing is as it previously was! The way things were no longer exist, instead of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame new inductees hitting the stage and performing, was done virtually. Due to the coronavirus, normalcy has been altered. This year’s all-star group still showed up and showed out.
Grammy-Winning Singer Alicia Keys spoke eloquently about one of the best female singers in pop history, that happens to be her friend Whitney.
Houston is known for her unique voice that is known all over the world. However, she was more than a singer. At an early age, she was known for her beauty. She paved the way for other Black females by becoming the first Black female on Seventeen magazine’s cover. But, music was Houston’s passion.
She is certified as the most awarded female artist of all time by the Guinness World Records. The singer is one of the best-selling recording artists to date, with over 200 million records worldwide.
Houston released her debut album in 1985 and recently became the first Black artist with three diamond-certified albums. She is still known as one of the best-selling acts in music history.
Houston’s Aunt and Mother Accepted The Award on Her Behalf
Pat Houston loved her niece and always spoke highly of her:
I remember in 2009 we were in London and Whitney looked at me and said, ‘This is really special but there’s only one thing missing – I got to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.’
Her mother, Cissy Houston, added, “She did it.” The audience expressed their love and gratitude for the newly inducted songstress.
