Trinity Simmons-Brooks is a rising senior at The Chicago High School for the Arts. The 17-year-old majors in Creative Writing: Non-Fiction. In her junior year, she was at the top of her writing career when she was featured in American Gun: A poem by 100 Chicagoans. Brooks gained an interest in writing when she was nine, which she used writing as an outlet to keep her afloat through some of the madness adolescence brought her. She looked at each of her pieces as a truth, holding them up as if she were having a conversation with the reader and includes as much imagery as possible.
