NFC Championship Recap

The Super Bowl is coming in no less than two weeks after two exciting games yesterday. The NFL playoffs continued, which began with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. The latter of the two ended up being demolished after quarterback injuries continued again. Brock Purdy, the third-string quarterback, got injured in the first quarter, leading them to their fourth-string Josh Johnson.

Johnson ended up getting hurt as well in the second quarter. They substituted Purdy back in, leading to many running plays that were quickly stopped. The Eagles, meanwhile, had a great running game with four rushing touchdowns. Miles Sanders had two, Boston Scott scored once, and Jalen Hurts got one.

That was Jalen Hurts’ 15th rushing TD of the season which broke a record. The most single-season rushing touchdowns by a QB ever, a description he stole from Cam Newton. The score ended up being 31-7 in a blowout at the Eagles stadium. Jalen Hurts has one more game to cap off this historic season, but it will be far from easy.

The Kansas City Chiefs played later yesterday against the Cincinnati Bengals. This game was expected to be close, with great performances from both teams. Mahomes against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week suffered a high ankle sprain.

It seemed like nothing happened, though, as he threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals did not back down, though, as they also displayed their offense. Despite throwing two interceptions, Joe Burrow had thrown for 270 yards and a touchdown.

Both QBs were having a night yesterday, leading to the score being 20-20 with no more than two minutes left in the game.

The Chiefs could push the ball down and advance into field goal range with no timeouts remaining. Harrison Butker was efficient all night and made the 45-yard field goal to extend the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. The score resulted in being 23-20. Mahomes has been playing like the best quarterback in the league, but will he be able to do it against a stacked team like the Eagles?

Super Bowl LVII Creates History

Super Bowl LVII is extremely special because of the quarterbacks. This is the first Super Bowl to have two black quarterbacks starting. Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts have been MVP candidates for most of the season and have led their teams to have the best record in their conferences.

On February 12t, we should expect high-level football from two of the best teams in the league. Mahomes has the experience advantage, with this being his third Super Bowl appearance in the last five years. Hurts has only been in the system for three years but plays as an experienced quarterback. The NFL is excited to see these two teams battle for the Lombardi Trophy.
