Sharron Angle Speaks Out on School Safety

angleNevada Congressional District 2 candidate, Sharron Angle, states “Schools should proactively promote self-defense.” As a former teacher and School Board Trustee, she speaks from experience.

No matter who commits a crime at school the local law enforcement should address the problem, even when the perpetrator is a child. Solving problems on a local level “is the best control and offers the best hands-on solutions.”

In the case of 17-year-old Noah Christiansen’s phone message to Representative Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), she contends it was handled improperly. Instead of his office calling the school, Angle says the police should have been phoned first. Then the authorities could investigate the violent-language-laden message the student left for Amodei while he was on campus.

In order to avoid the hoopla, which now includes the ACLU, the young man’s parents, police, school officials, and possibly a mental health worker should have been involved in making the decision about how to assign the consequences of his offense.

As such, Angle adds:

Schools should be part of a database resource system that tracks individuals who have common violent tendency markers and teams of school officials, mental-health workers, and police who investigate threats of school violence.

Schools should promote a moral standard of respect.

Schools should proactively promote self-defense. Teachers and administrators should not be required to leave their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms outside the workplace.

Angle is strongly opposed to the anti-Second Amendment agenda in use by the progressive left. She says using stories of the victims to push this agenda is “insensitive to those who are grieving.” Angle adds, “We need to ignore this ‘not letting a crisis go to waste’ mentality, and instead explore solutions.”

She ended the discussion with a quote about the Second Amendment from George Washington: “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”
