PaulSen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) will head to Canada later this month for surgery on a hernia, according to a Louisville newspaper reporter on Jan. 14, 2019.

He sustained the injury which requires treatment during an attack at home in late 2017.

Paul’s neighbor, Rene Boucher, was charged with the assault. According to Boucher, his anger escalated because Paul repeatedly placed his debris and blew leaves onto his property.

Ultimately Boucher was sentenced to prison for a term of 30 days. Paul has filed a civil suit against him as well. Paul is suing, according to the Courier-Journal, for his medical cost of $4,000 which could be updated to include the cost of the surgery of his hernia.

The newspaper reported that a procedure like this is likely to cost between $5,000 and $8,000 in court documents.

The only licensed hospital in the world dedicated to specializing in hernia surgery is the Shouldice Hernia Hospital according to the internet. Paul’s spokeswoman, Kelsey Cooper, told the papers “Paul chose to have the surgery at the world-renowned hospital in Canada.”

Founded by Dr. Edwards Earle Shouldice over 70 years ago, the hospital has performed over 380,000 successful hernia repairs. They have dedicated themselves to the natural tissue techniques that do not require the use of surgical mesh.

They have a surgical team that comprised of the most experienced surgeons from all around the world which makes them exceptionally safe, secure and reliable.
