Peacock Released by NBC

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On the date of July 15, 2020, NBCUniversal released a streaming platform. This is said to be the last app for streaming entertainment this year. The last app introduced before Peacock was Quibi.

This newly introduced streaming service has been called Peacock. The name comes from NBC’s known peacock logo. The streaming app will have a free to watch base service with supported adds.

But even if you want to watch it now, you are very limited. Nonetheless, it includes various networks and Universal movies. This includes USA, Syfy, NBC, and others will be available to watch at any time.

Content such as A&E and History channels will be allowed through the Viacom CBS umbrella network. Though these may not be the most popular titles some may be pleased to hear what NBC is offering.

In the early months of this year, fans of Peacock have ben teased of the service they would bring and consumers may be interested in the deals. Popular TV titles were shown in a showcase and many fan favorites can be easily accessible to watch. Popular titles on TV will be; The Office, Shrek, Minions, Murder She Wrote, Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation

The default service has nearly 13,000 hours of content available.

Peacock premiums will have even more content to offer along with the ‘Peacock Originals’. This content will be free to those with Xfinity X1, Flex, and Cox Contour. Peacock Premium will be ad-free for $4.99 per month, with five minutes of commercials per hour of content.

If you want to watch Peacock completely add free, the subscription is $9.99 per month.

The base service provides hundreds of hours of content, along with National Broadcasting Company shows.

There has been a free library in this new streaming app to easily access your free to watch content. This service also adds sample episodes of Peacock Originals and live sports programming.

We are told that you can watch anything on Peacock Premium with about 20,000 hours of content for users, with access to NBC programming earlier than other subscribers.

On its launch, Peacock is available on multiple platforms; Apple, Google Devices, Vizio, Smart TVs, and Microsoft devices. According to NBC, PlayStation will have the app available in late July.

It is also announced that the new streaming platform will soon be on Amazon and Roku.

What makes Peacock different from Netflix is that it has ‘Peacock Channels’. These channels stream 24/7, similar to basic television. This can also be a replicate of the Xfinity stream. How many streaming apps do people need? This may be a nice option for those without any television subscriptions to another service. This may be for someone who is completely new to these apps.

For example, if someone has a Roku smart TV, there is no need for Peacock because they probably downloaded Netflix too. When will there be enough apps to watch televised programs from?

Can these companies producing these apps profit from each other. If someone has two apps to watch their favorite shows on, why are advertisements pushed on those that already have what they need? There are deals within separate apps promoting another.

NBC does give low deals, for example, five dollars a month, which is lower than  Netflix. The highest tier offered is at ten dollars a month so if you are on a budget and want to save money, you may want to switch over.
