Out of Ashes From a Fire Grows a Rose

Fire
The smoke detector buzzing, foggy air, my fight or flight response erupting in my nervous system, my number one goal to get everyone out of the house. The reality that almost everything I have is gone — these were all the senses I felt as I experienced a fire in my house.

The blessing is everyone is still alive, yet I am still experiencing grief in my heart for a place I once called home. The memories, pictures on the wall, verses on the wall, etcetera are all remembered in the past. In a matter of minutes, the security I once felt of having a place to call home and lay my head is now a past reality in smoke.

What I feel like doing is going into a hole to reminisce on the things that once were. What I feel in me is a mixture of anger, sadness, confusion, and hurt. I really do not have one feeling to pinpoint at once. But one thing is for certain; I have to keep going.

The mere fact of my current existence on earth means God still sees a purpose in my life. The automatic beating of my heart shows He is still not done with me. The preservation of my covenant promise ring with God to remain abstinent till marriage symbolizes the kept promise He has for me over my life and the eternal covenant He has made that will never end. The covenant where He will make all things new.

“‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’ Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful,'” according to Revelation 21:4-5 (NKJV). Out of the ashes and smoke of a fire, a new rose will form better than one has ever been; the old things have passed away, but new is yet to come.
