The Saints loss to the Buccaneers is not too surprising with seven players on the injured list. The final score was Tampa Bay 48-New Orleans 40 on Dec. 9, 2018.
Even with this loss, the Saints are 10-2 and are currently first in the NFC South. The game took place in their hometown at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, more commonly called the Superdome.
The inactive list includes wide-receiver, Brandon Marshall; tight end Dan Arnold; left tackle Terron Armstead; linebacker Manti Te’o; center, Will Clapp; defensive end Trey Hendrickson; and defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen.
Marshall has yet to make his debut for the New Orleans Saints. Since joining the team’s roster, he has missed all four games.
The top three performers on the offensive team were quarterback Drew Brees, 201 passing yards; running back Alvin Kamara, 51 rushing yards; wide receiver Michael Thomas, 91 receiving yards. For the defensive team, linebacker Demario Davis, seven tackles; defensive end Cameron Jordon, four tackles; and safety Chris Banjo, one interception.
Mark Ingram secured his spot in the franchise’s record book with 49 career rushing touchdowns. Both he and Deuce McAllister now hold the same title as they are tied. Not only did they achieve the same number touchdowns but they both did so with eight years under their belts when they set the record.
Saints Final 3 Regular Season Game Schedule
In the 15th week of the regular season, the New Orleans Saints will face No. 2 in the NFC South, Carolina Panthers at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Monday Night Football kickoff is at 5:15 p.m. ET on December 17, shown on ESPN.
On Sunday, December 23, the Saints will play at their home field against the Pittsburgh Steelers; No. 1 in the AFC North. Fans can view the game on CBS at 1:25 p.m. ET.
New Orleans will be at home when they meet Carolina on Sunday, December 30 at 10:00 a.m. ET. FOX will broadcast the game.
New Orleans Saints Origin
The New Orleans Saints was founded in November 1966 by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans. Their home stadium was the Tulane Stadium. In 1975 they moved to the Louisianna Superdome until Mercedes-Benz purchased the stadium’s naming rights.
The franchise’s first winning season was in 1987 with their final score at 12 and 3. This earned them a trip to the NFL playoffs where they lost to the Minnesota Vikings 44–10.
In 2009, the Saints won a trip to Superbowl XLIV. They beat the AFC Champions Indianapolis Colts, 31-17. This was their only Superbowl game to date. Fans will be thrilled should the New Orleans Saints defend the NFC at the Superbowl LII on Feb. 3, 2019.
