Multiple Earthquakes Rock Tonga Islands

A 5.6M earthquake struck 95 km northeast of Hihifo, Tonga, with a depth of 10 km, at 15:24 UTC.
The exact latitude and longitude of the quake was 15.183°S and 15.334°W.

It was felt as far as 688.3 km away in Nuku´alofa, Tonga. The earthquake effected Apia, Samoa; Tāfuna, American Samoa; and Pago Pago, American Samoa.

An hour later, another temblor struck 108 km from Hihifo at 15.027°S and 173.397°. The 4.8M earthquake also had a depth of 10 km.

The day in Hihifo began at 9 a.m. with a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that did not generate a Tsunami warning. A 5.0M quake hit at 12:18, followed by another at 14:36, and a 4.8M tremor at 16:23.

Even though all of the earthquakes took place off the coast on Tonga, 29 people reported feeling a moderate shaking.

There have not been any reports of injuries or structural damages at this time.
