Two women were attacked and robbed in the early morning of July 18, 2022, by two male suspects on the CTA Red Line in the Loop. Many people have experienced situations like this making them cautious while using public transportation.

It’s scary knowing that two women were robbed at knifepoint by two men in an open space. Many people use trains for transportation at any time. Some days there are even teenagers that take the train early morning for school.

So what makes the police think it’s not gonna happen to others? There have been people robbed for a long time and police still haven’t taken action or made sure there is more security. Police are just not taking action on occasions like this. Roughly 60 percent out of 100 percent of robbers never get caught. So they keep stealing from people because they don’t fear the police catching them.

A 21-year-old woman had her purse stolen, and a 22-year-old female suffered a cut on her hand during the altercation around 2:15 a.m.

Most of the time people blame the victim for being out so late. Sometimes the robberies go the wrong way and the victims end up way worse than in this incident, some do not survive.

Both of the suspects ran away, The altercation is still under investigation by three detectives who are from the area. After this incident, many in the neighborhood agree officials should add stronger security. For example, they can make a button or something people can push for help. Or have cops around or near that train section so if there is a need for help they can respond faster.

The CPD did not immediately provide a description of the suspects, other than to say they were young-looking. Many feel if authorities had given more details about the suspect,s people from the neighborhood could be of help. It is possible that someone from the area knew the robbers and could have had evidence that would help polices find the men.
