Man Making a Difference Visits North Lawndale

Community member

Community member Man Making A Difference, also known as MMAD is a non-profit organization located in Chicago’s North Lawndale Neighborhood on 15th in Holman. This organization is structured around Men serving as representation for their families and the community to show that not-so positive lives can be turned  into positive lives.  These Men,and also founders of the organization spent a lot of time in the streets and have knowledge about what it means to have little to nothing and being able to survive by the skin of their teeth. As a result, they realized that it would be in their best interest to figure out ways to give back to the community.

That being said, MMAD has been around for about three years, hosting holiday party’s from Halloween to Christmas, having large feasts and giving away clothing items and toys.  They are commonly known for the distribution of non-perishable items for families in need within the neighborhood and the surrounding communities. St. Agatha hosted the annual food drive December 20, 2017 from 10am-12pm. They were joined by employees of St. Anthony Hospital to help in the distribution process of goods to the community.

This event was advertised heavily via word of mouth and through the passing of flyers. Those who came out to St.Agatha expressed their gratitude for the items they received especially since the weather is breaking and the Christmas holiday is approaching.

As advertised on the MMAD website, “MMAD Galvanizes Men to come forward and be the leaders and role models for their families and community.” If you would like to become a member of MMAD, and serve your community,  you can join via their website at www.mmadchicago.org. Although organized by Men, MMAD does not exclude the service of Women and people of other sexual orientations.
