The state of Maine’s Task Force to Address the Opioid Crisis met last week and is expected to present their recommendations to state legislatures by Dec. 6, 2017.

Recommendations will include prevention, law enforcement, harm reduction, drug treatment, and recovery.
According to officials in law enforcement, 185 Maine residents died from a drug overdose between January and June 2016. In 2015, 376 Maine people died from an opioid overdose.

Among the outraged is Democratic Representative Jay McCreight, who stated that the epidemic requires action and “every day we hesitate literally means the death of another Mainer.”
