Madonna has chosen to push back the opening performances of her Madame X tour due to “highly specialized production elements being delayed,” according to a representative from Live Nation, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019.
This means that her first two concerts scheduled for Sept. 12 and 14 at Brooklyn’s BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, will take place on Oct. 10 and 12 respectfully. Tickets for the previously scheduled show will be honored. However, the Sept. 15 show at BAM has been canceled. Refunds will be issued automatically to ticket holders.
Although specifics were not given, it is likely that the production elements that have been delayed involve the holograms of Madonna/Madame X unveiled during her performance at the Billboard Music Awards earlier this year.
The tour’s BAM run will start on Sept. 17 and run through Oct. 12. The remainder of the tour includes stops in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, and Miami and will end On Dec. 19.
Madonna released a statement: “Madame X is a perfectionist and wants to give you the most unique, magical, and musical experience. She underestimated the amount of time it would take to bring this kind of intimate theatrical experience to you and wants it to be perfect!!! Thank you so much for your understanding.”
Madame X was released in June. This is Madonna’s first album since her 2015 Rebel Heart. Madonna has released “Batuka” from her Madame X album and “God Control” her anti-gun violence video.
