Latin Grammy Nominees Includes New Era of Artists

The Latin Grammys brings a new generation with various nominations, including artists, genre, and fusion pieces. These nominations will be announced on Sept. 28th, 2021.

Camilo was the stand-out artist for this year. The Colombian singer had 10 nominations for album and song of the year. Also, the up-and-coming artist received high praise for their sophomore album “Mis Manos,” having several well-known collaborators like Selena Gomez.

Rauw Alejandro is in the running to earn an award for song and record of the year against industry talents like Marc Anthony and Julio Iglesias. The Rising stars single “tattoo(remix)” is running for best urban fusion/ performance.

Diamante Elecrito received nominations for best record and song and best pop/rock album and song. The Colombian band also performed a tiny deck concert.

Reggaetón had a poor showing in the Latin Grammy when it came to nominations, even though the genre artistic and commercial success worldwide. Bad Bunny’s El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo was the only reggaetón record to receive a nod for album of the year, and bad bunny came away with four. In contrast, the runners for best reggaetón performance included J Balvin, Farruko, Karol G, Ozuna, and Collab featuring Jay wheeler, Dj nelson, and Myke Towers.

“Patria y Vida,” one of 2021 biggest stories in the music industry, is an artistic cornerstone for a significant historical moment in how the present and future Latin Americans use music as a way of protest. The song was nominated for Song of the year and form the best urban record of the year. Written and performed by Cubans in exile and those still left on the island, Alt La Tino called the track ” a unifying cry for the largest uprising in recent history for Cuba.”
