Joe Jackson, the father of the famous musical artist, dancer, and songwriter Michael Jackson, died June 27, 2018. The 89-year-old was the father and manager of Michael and Janet Jackson. Earlier, he created and managed the Jackson 5.
While there has been no cause of death announced, reports indicate he had been in the hospital. His daughter LaToya tweeted, “I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. #RIP Joe Jackson.”
With a wife and children to support, he gave up his dreams of becoming a boxer and began to work as a crane operator for US Steel. He and his brother created The Falcons in the mid-1950s to earn extra money. However, the band only lasted for a few months. He turned his musical ambitions toward his children since they seemed talented.
He created the Jackson Brothers Act in 1963 with sons Jermaine, Tito, and Jackie then began entering them in local talent shows. With the inclusion of Michael and Marlon, the Jackson 5 was brought about. After the group ended in 1973 he helped his son, Michael, to pursue his own career.
His success will carry on with his children, grandchildren, and wife. Some of his grandchildren even paid tribute on social media, writing that he “made everything possible.”
