Jenaz Shorter is a junior at Collins Academy and she came to The News School because some of her friends at school were telling her about this program. It sounded interesting because she loves to write.
One day, Shorter decided to come with them to talk about the program with Mr. Chandler and wanted to join. She had to go to a place on the South Side to fill out paperwork, and now she is here.
What she expects to learn from The News School is to become a better writer and help herself grow by writing new articles or stories in general. She wants to become a preschool teacher or nurse and she knows teachers have to write a lot and do a ton of work. This program is helping her, so when she does start her career it will not be very hard because she will already have experience with writing and typing.
From this program, she also expects herself to become a faster typist since the job is always on the computer. Since she was little she always wanted to become faster at typing and from this, she would hope for her typing skills to become better from the speed she is at now.
