MariaBreaking into the U.K. music industry from another country is a difficult task. Although some have come close, there has not been an Asian artist that has succeeded.

Leslie Loh hit the top of the weekly music charts with her song, “Boom, Bang, Bang,” in August 2003. The song was produced by Stevie Eagle E and Doc B. Loh is the only Chinese artist to top any music chart in the West, and since 2003, no one else has come close.

Master Opera singer Jane Maria believes it is time for her to make history and attack the British charts with her mixture of classical opera and other genres.

Maria flew to the U.K. to perform at the G Salvatore Fashion Showcase in Wales. Other performers included Reggae great Toyin Adekale, award-winning singer/songwriter Stephan Dante, Bhangra legend Tubsy Dholki Walla, and American rap star BWA Kane.

The event was a great success, and now Maria is ready to try something else in the U.K. She is collaborating with Grammy award-winning producers and great artists from different genres, such as Pop, Reggae Soul, and R & B. Her new album will be mostly classical, but fans should expect some twists and turns, after all, she is working with Stevie Eagle E and Shlepp Entertainment, so anything can happen.

Here is what Stevie Eagle E had to say about the project from his studio in London:

The classical world is a very closed world and although I have done some classical things, I did not want to completely go there with Jane Maria. I know her album will be mostly amazing classical opera, but what I am doing will be something a little different. I am looking at doing what I do best, fusing and mixing genres and style to come up with something a little different that I hope will go down with people who love classical, but mostly with people who just love music. So, watch this space.

Stevie Eagle E was asked what he thought of Jane Maria’s chances of breaking into the U.K. given it has never been done by a Chinese artist before.

Look, someone has to do it. I have come real close with artists like Leslie Loh and Ayi Jihu and even Shim Mina from South Korea. I do not see why Jane Maria cannot get it done. To me, there are a lot of factors involved, but in the end, it comes down to the music being right.
