Three colleges in Illinois have been named some of the best in the nation, according to a new list. On the 2023 list, two schools from Illinois made it high on the list, landing in the top 25 Northwestern University in Evanston came in at number 14, and the University of Chicago earned the number 16 spot. Colleges that round out the list’s top 10 include several Ivy League schools like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Dartmouth, according to Niche — a platform that connects students and families with colleges and schools, released its 2023 list of best colleges in America on Monday.

Niche rankings are based on rigorous analysis of key statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and millions of reviews. Illinois’ higher education system is composed of 184 colleges and universities. Of these, 60 are public institutions, 89 are nonprofit private schools, and 35 are for-profit private institutions. Most Affordable Colleges in Illinois Chicago State University Total Cost: $7,488, Governors State University, Western Illinois University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, the University of Illinois at Springfield. Southern Illinois University Carbondale College benefits are intended to cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees for full- or part-time undergraduate study. While the program does not offer prepaid tuition plans to cover graduate study, benefits may be applied to graduate student tuition and fees but will be paid out at the undergraduate tuition rate.

The University of Chicago is a private institution that was founded in 1890. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 6,989. It utilizes a quarter-based academic calendar. Northwestern University is a private institution that was founded in 1851. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 8,194   Northwestern University’s ranking in the 2022 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, #9. Its tuition and fees are $60,984.Northwestern University has a total undergraduate enrollment of 8,194 with a gender distribution of 48% male students and 52% female students. At this school, 60% of the students live in college-owned, 40% of students live off campus. In sports, Northwestern University is part of the NCAA I. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is a public institution that was founded in 1867.
