It has been confirmed by The New York Times and CBS News that Hope Hicks, White House communications director, will be resigning.
Since the beginning of Trump’s presidential campaign, Hicks has been a central part of the president’s camp. She has served closely as an advisor to the president in the White House. Her close position has made her an interest to Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the House Intelligence Committee in the Russia investigation.
Hicks only provided limited information into the investigation when she was questioned on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, when she gave nine hours of testimony. Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, said she refused to answer any questions from the committee. Her refusal was a “breathtakingly broad claim of privilege that I don’t think any court would sustain, but I think the White House knows that,” according to Schiff.
