Owning a business can be stressful. Having to run a business and manage social media can be a hassle. Sometimes it feels like there are just not enough hours in the day to complete everything. When starting a business, the owner wants to make sure he or she is covering all aspects of the business.

The two most important parts are managing the actual business and then managing social media. Social media plays a large role in the business world. More than one billion people are active on Facebook, and more than one million people are active on Instagram every month, according to the Newsroom. With that being said, imagine how many people could be reached to learn about the business without even visiting the actual establishment.

For example, the business this client is running is a Beauty Bar. Things happening in the shop range from unique hairstyles to applying make-up. The client will be doing a lot of traveling, so she will need to hire someone to market her business. There are a lot of beauty shops throughout the Chicagoland area. To be the best, and be noticed, marketing is the key.

The main reasons to hire a social media marketer are simple: for one it is a cost-effective form of advertising. It also offers great opportunities to engage with the audience/customers. Social media is where the customers/audience will go to learn, seek, discover, and decide where to shop.

While looking to hire someone there are a couple of specific skills this client is looking for. Her new hire needs to know how to operate Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. These things are necessary for her business to thrive and attract the wanted clientele.

The client would require her new hire to finish a series of tasks throughout the workday. To do this the employee would be required to use Hootsuite and TweetDeck.

HootSuite and TweetDeck are two great tools to use for social media marketing. TweetDeck just focuses on Twitter, while Hootsuite connects all social media accounts in one place. Both tools allow the marketer to post and schedule a post for later dates. Her new hire would also be required to use Slack for communication purposes.

During an average workday the employee will be setting up a social marketing plan. The purpose of a social media plan is to form an outline, define goals, strategies, and an action plan. One would do that by auditing, developing, engaging, and measuring data. Auditing requires the following things: assess the business’ social media presence, identify gaps, and set profiles. During the developing phase, the employee would be required to set goals, select social media networks, and build workflow. During the engaging phase, one would start to publish, share, and engage with the targeted audience. Finally, during the measuring phase, the employee will measure the business analytics to see how well the business is thriving on social media.

What this client would like her employee to focus on are two types of goals. Those are business and social goals. The business goals consist of the following: brand awareness, word of mouth, leads, and sales. Social goals consist of the following: reach, comments, inbound likes, shares, followers, and online purchases.

This client’s employee would need to develop a content strategy, identify the right content for her brand, create a content calendar, and publishing content efficiently. This means publishing content around what the target audience is interests.

When owning a business, having a social media marketer, is going to be one of the major keys to a thriving business. This is the most cost-effective form of advertising and will help promote and grow the business in great ways.
