hostage A hostage situation at the Triple-S Food Mart has a heavy presence of the Baton Rouge Police Department on the scene. A large area of North Foster Drive has been blocked off by the police, according to WBRZ on Jan. 24, 2019.

A massive group of police poured on to the scene around 9 p.m. ET, by Randolph North Foster near Fairfield Avenue. Helicopters took to the air as the situation began to unfold into an open investigation.

WBRZ looks on as the Baton Rouge Police Department attempting to speak using a loudspeaker with occupants in the store.

Officers, as well as Emergency Medical responders, are available on the scene.

Mark Armstrong, a TV reporter for WBRZ of Baton Rouge, tweeted:

I’m at the Triple S in Baton Rouge for an apparent hostage situation. In a very calm voice, the police are speaking to a hostage taker over a loudspeaker. Police are saying the following:

  1. “They’re not here to hurt the hostage taker.
  2. The hostage taker did an excellent job by letting the others go.
  3. They need to release the last person and come out with their hands up.
  4. Medical treatment is available for the hostage taker if they need it.”

Updates will be provided as they become available.
