A former Bachelor, Colton Underwood, who appeared on “The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor in Paradise,” and then “The Bachelor,” revealed to Robin Roberts of “Good Morning America” that he is gay on April 14, 2021.
Underwood, also a former NFL athlete, expressed that he was tired of running from and hating himself in the exclusive interview with Roberts. After dealing with many thoughts of feeling like he would rather die than let people know he was gay, he decided to live and not let suicidal tendencies govern his life.
Underwood says he has had feelings of being “different” since he was around six years old. In high school and playing on the football team, he noticed he was more attracted to boys than girls. Much to his displeasure, after letting it be known he was a virgin on “The Bachelor,” his virginity became the show’s focal point.
When asked about the women he faced on the shows, Underwood stated that he regrets bringing so many other people into his darkness and wishes he could have handled things differently. He apologized to his former girlfriend, “Bachelor” contestant Cassie Randolph, who filed a restraining order against him in September then later had it dismissed.
Underwood also stated that the whole experience has helped him get to where he is now, which is happier than ever. Now that he has come to grips with who he is, it is time to let everyone know.
TMZ has reported that Underwood is already filming a reality show on Netflix that will chronicle his life since announcing he is gay.
