On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, Serena Williams faced off Camila Giorgi at the Wimbledon quarterfinal. However, her fans went wild with negative comments about Drake’s appearance at his ex’s tennis match.
With this win, Serena will be advancing to semifinalist status with a promising reach for her 24th Grand Slam and 8th Wimbledon title. Many of Serena’s fans and supporters observed her triumphant win at the center court. Numerous sports critics would describe her performance as “flying colors.”
In this crowd of spectators, rapper, and Williams’ rumored ex-boyfriend was among the spectators. As he sat in the crowd, multiple pictures were taken of him in a green hoodie. He appears to be focused on the game, sipping a drink, and cheering on his ex during big moments in the match.
As he was enjoying the match, smiling and laughing; Williams’ fans were not happy about the celebrity’s attendance and bring up “The Drake Curse.”
Fans began posting memes and GIFs making reference to the rapper. These memes and GIFs demonstrate the fans’ disturbance over his attendance.
One of the GIFs shows a woman rolling her eyes and saying, “Oh for F*** Sake,” with the caption saying, “everyone when the camera showed Drake.”
Another user, Oliver, tweeted: “I’d rather have Trump than Drake watching Serena on Centre Court. Drake is a curse. #Wimbledon”. Phiwomhle also tweeted about Drake’s presence: “Serena is not converting her break points. I need Drake outta that [darned] court ???????????????? GUAAAAAARD.”
