Supporters and non-supporters of the COVID-19 vaccine are split down the middle as skeptics are not making vaccinations a priority. The state of Illinois has 50 percent of its population vaccinated with the other half still undecided or dismissive. Illinois has 1.4 reported cases with 25,000 resulting in deaths, as reported July 21, 2021, by The Hill.
The race to get everyone vaccinated is on; as doctors aim to prevent the further spread of the Delta variant and its deadliness. The new strand takes up 83 percent of new COVID cases, as reported by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky. Due to the Delta variant being so deadly and spreading rapidly and doctors piling up unwanted and unused vaccines, Democrats and CDC have warned the public of a ‘Pandemic of the unvaccinated.’
Though government and medical officials have urged those who are unvaccinated to get vaccinated, many still refuse. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is an advocate for that choice stated, “But at the end of the day, it’s up to people to make that decision.” The Florida Senator believes that for many Americans that the vaccine is a personal choice, as it is within a person’s rights to choose what they want to put in their bodies, just as they do with other medication and substances.
This Information may be right in terms of the rights of Americans, but it does not change the fact that people are dying from the virus and the numbers are only getting worse. Russia has reported a startling number of 24,471 new COVID cases with 796 deaths from coronavirus as reported on Thursday, July, 22 by Ifax via Reuters Illinois has Reported over 2,000 gamma variant cases and 403 delta variant cases, and Chile public health officials have discovered a new strain labeled Lambda variant that may be resistant to vaccines.
