Daily Performance Form

  • Daily Log of Activities Completed.

    Attendance is a requirement for the program. Absences must be excused. You must notify Mr. Chandler the day before, unless there is an emergency. Three (3) unexcused absences will cause you to lose your funding. Five (5) days missed and you will be dropped from the program.

Daily Teaching Schedule

Monday
  • Noon: Deadline article assigned. Due by day’s end.
  • 1:00 p.m. Greek/Latin
  • Meet with assigned Mentor (Instructor to teach or review journalism terminology, protocols, grammar, etc.)
  • Technology instruction, social media, advertising labs throughout the week
  • Using their own phone take a photo of something they found interesting or fascinating in their community.
  • 5:00 p.m. Greek/Latin
Tuesday
  • Noon: Greek/Latin
  • Meet with Mentor (see Monday)
  • Technology instruction, social media, advertising labs throughout the week
  • 1-2 p.m. Time for Developing Contacts
  • 500 word article
  • Using their own phone take a photo of something they found interesting or fascinating in their community.

Wednesday
  • Noon: Greek/Latin
  • Meet with Mentor (see Monday)
  • Technology instruction, social media, advertising labs throughout the week
  • Using their own phone take a photo of something they found interesting or fascinating in their community.
  • Independent writing completing assignments
Thursday
  • Noon: No Greek
  • *Featured story written of 1,000 words and presented to class the following Thursday. The stories will be printed and handed out to the class, then it will be read aloud using Peter Elbow’s theory “Revising by Reading Aloud. What the Mouth and Ear Know.” (These will be assigned or approved by instructor.)

Friday
  • Noon: Greek/Latin
  • Meet with Mentor (see Monday)
  • Technology instruction, social media, advertising labs throughout the week
  • In the field day – track down a real story in the community and go there to cover what is happening and write a story 500 word story. Alternatively, find a current event happening in Illinois or the U.S. and write a 500 word story.
  • Independent writing completing all send-backs and working on new assignments.
  • Using their own phone take a photo of something they found interesting or fascinating in their community.

  • Dwayne’s writing schedule: BN every day using Tweetdeck for source to find topic.
    A full-length 500 word article required every other week.
