Community Alert: Vehicular Hijacking in District 3

This is a notice to people in the Grand Crossing area. There have been multiple vehicular hijackings in the month of December.

During these incidents, assailants approached people who were sitting in their cars and ordered them to get out. When the victims did not comply, they were forcibly removed from their vehicles.
Once victim said she saw a small chrome object that she believed was a handgun. The assailants approached victims from a silver Kia Soul.

The dates and locations of the vehicular hijackings are as follows:
Dec. 17, at 10:23 a.m. in the 7400 block of Kimbark Avenue
Dec. 17, at 11:15 a.m. in the 7200 block of Kimbark Avenue

The assailants are one to three black men between the ages of 16 and 20. There are between 5’7” and 5’9” tall and weigh about 130-140 pounds. Two of the assailants were described as having a light-brown complexion.

Be vigilant. Remain cautiously aware of all surroundings. If confronted by the carjackers, remain calm and try to look for any unique physical characteristics, such as a limp, tattoo, a scar, teeth, or acne.
Do not pursue the assailants, remember everything possible to report to the police. Of approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.

Call 911 and, if possible, remain at the scene.
