On Friday, October 6, 2017, The Collins Academy football team won their fifth game of the season and are now 5-2.

The game started at 7:15 p.m. and ended at 8:40. Although they were scheduled to end at 9, the team took their win early.

The team won with a 30-0 blowout against the opposing team from Steinmetz High School. This was a wonderful night for everyone on the team, especially the seniors since this was considered “Senior Night;” the last home game the seniors play on the high school football team. In addition to it being a special night for the seniors, all the players wore something pink to support women with breast cancer.

Unfortunately, the team does not always score as well as it did on Friday. For example the night of Collins’ Homecoming Game, the team lost, 32-6, only adding insult to injury after an unfortunate event took place.

One member of the team, No. 74, Jarvis Robinson, was hospitalized after suffering a knee injury on the field during the third quarter of the game.

However, Robinson was back on the field and in good shape on Friday night. This was truly a blessing because all of the team members are valuable. According to No. 78, Montel Magsby, there are really no top players “because everybody plays a major part on the team.”

With only two games left, against Lincoln Park and Schurz High Schools, Collins is hoping to finish off the season with seven wins to their name.
