Movies in the public park were among many things shut down in Chicago. A public park would easily cause a quick spread of the coronavirus, hence the reason why shut down in the first place.
The city’s movie in the park will continue as scheduled on outdoor screens. Like many established systems in the city, they will enforce a mandatory face-covering and urge them to also try to stay distanced from others. The new capacity level is only 100 people within a park.
The movies have started playing as of Monday, July 13, 2020 with the first one being “Sonic the Hedgehog” at Seward Park according to NBC Chicago. For the remainder of the week, different parks will show the various amount of PG and PG-13 rated movies like “Frozen” and “Aquaman.”
For the people who are not comfortable enough with the restrictions, drive-in options will also be available. The popular Millennium park is known for having its center of attraction the ‘Big Bean’. The public park is located in the loop area of the city around downtown Chicago.
Considering how popular this park is, regular movie series festivities here have also been canceled for the safety of others. They have moved numerous music events to be accessible online.
There have been multiple establishments around the city that have allowed the drive-in movies option, such as Soldier Field and now Walmart. Outdoor screening will continue from Monday-Friday until September 11.
