Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s legal team went to court to block WBBM-Ch. 2 from airing a segment on the news depicting Police officers inappropriately raiding an innocent woman’s home handcuffing her. At the same time, she was nude, according to the Chicago Tribune on Dec. 17, 2020.

On Feb. 21, 2019, Anjanette Young had just come home from work. Upon arriving home, she began to undress when the most abhorrent situation was thrust upon her by the Chicago Police Department.

Several male officers, equipped with body cameras and guns drawn, burst through the door of Young’s place of residence at approximately 7 p.m. CT and proceeded to raid her place while yelling they had a search warrant. Young was terrified as she stood in her residence fully naked, while officers handcuffed her as they began searching throughout the premises.

As nine body cameras record this incident throughout the ordeal, Young repeatedly professes her innocence to the officers as they are looking for alleged guns and ammo on the premises. Young told the officers, at least 43 times, they were in the wrong place.

Despite a couple of officers half-heartedly attempting to put a blanket on Young’s back throughout this ordeal, the sergeant repeatedly asks questions of Young without having the decency to ensure she has proper clothing on.

CBS 2 News investigation shows the police did not even do basic research before raiding Young’s residence. This certainly was a faux pas on behalf of the Chicago police department. Young was completely innocent; the police need to have more accountability for their actions.
