On Monday, August 12, 2020, Black Lives Matter members were protesting in Chicago because over 100 people were arrested the night before due to looting and rioting. In a 24-hour period, the looters were responsible for more than $60 million in damages and/or stolen merchandise. Additionally, at least 13 police officers were injured.

I don’t care if someone decides to go and loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because it is feeding their family and keeping warm clothes on their bodies until they receive their unemployment checks.
Shortly thereafter, 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale told Fox News he believes Chicago’s mayor Lori Lightfoot is losing faith and control over the city. He contends it is likely she has been listening to the wrong people. Beale added that he feels the wrong people could be the reason behind the unrest in the city.
The Alderman also believes that the looters and disruptive protesters should be subject to arrest for their unlawful actions. Moreover, peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters should try to stay away from bad influencers.
