Chicago Community Alert: Robberies in the 012th District

The Chicago Police Department has put out a community alert for District 012.

In the month of October, a black man has approached his victims, knocked them to the ground, and demanded money or property.

The locations of reported attacks are as follows:

  • The 600 Block of South Wood Street, on Oct. 1, at 6:50 p.m. CT
  • The 1800 Block of West Harrison Street, on Oct. 1, at 7:08 p.m.

The assailant is a 5’9″-5’11” black man between the ages of 20-25. He looks to weigh approximately 150 lbs., has short hair and was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Citizens are advised to do the following:

  • Be aware of surroundings
  • Report suspicious activity
  • If confronted by the assailant, stay calm and remember any unique characteristics about the man.
  • Do not pursue the man, report his whereabouts to the police.
  • If there is any video or pictures of the assailant save a copy for detectives.
  • If approached by a witness or victim ask for their contact information, dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain at the scene.
