As of July 14, 2020, there have been 13 arrests made on the west side neighborhood Austin’s involving a drug altercation. The presumed leader of an ‘organization’ that is distributed heroin in the neighborhood Clifton Coleman was caught with the substance.

The police department seized $1.1 million in cash along with:

  • 500 grams of crack cocaine;
  • Three kilograms of cocaine;
  • Five handguns;
  • And a rifle to top it off.

This evidence leads them to charge Coleman with the intention of distribution and a few other charges.

Officers allegedly saw several handoff sales in multiple intersections in the area. The 13 arrested in suspected drug distribution were:

  • Clifton Coleman,45;
  • Terrance Watson,45;
  • Keith Moore, 49;
  • Bernard Rowsey, 42;
  • Rodney Rowsey,41;
  • Charles Armstrong,55;
  • Dexter Jones,48;
  • Vernon Edwards,49;
  • Laverick Dawson, 36;
  • Eric Bernard, 53;
  • Kenneth Bowdry, 57;
  • Bryan Landfair, 58;
  • And Morris Simmons, 59.

The city’s police have been working to get drugs and the dealers off the streets and had been hoping to uncover any “ring leaders” and stop this for good. The authorities intercepted several phone call communications and were able to act based on the information given. Also used surveillance to be able to search homes and find the evidence mentioned earlier in this article.

All of them were apart of “Operation Dirty Ice,” a system the police are using to get drugs off the streets.
