Chicago: Another Violent 24, Leaving 2 Dead, 14 Shot

ChicagoChicago has experienced another violent 24 hours, leaving 2 dead among the 14 shots. The city continues to experience a form of attack on its’ youth. As four teenagers were included in the chaos, all under the age of 16.

It all happened on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, when two teenage girls (ages 13 and 16), were being accompanied by another adult female (age 19) when shots rang out in the Chatham neighborhood. All three of the young ladies suffered gunshot wounds, but are all said to be okay, with nonfatal injuries. Another non-fatal shooting occurred with a 15-year old boy leaving him with a graze to the face; it happened in the South Loop neighborhood, around 10:30 p.m. when the young man was walking alone and came across two groups of males having an altercation.

One of two of the fatal victims, a man, said to be in his 40’s, suffered gunshot wounds to the head, hip, and thigh. He was found unresponsive around 10:10 p.m., in the Little Village neighborhood. The other fatal shooting occurred in the Greater-Grand Crossing neighborhood, where the victim also suffered a gunshot wound to the head as well as his torso when a dark-colored van pulled and opened fire. He was taken to the University of Chicago, where he was pronounced dead. Another male was hit in the foot during shooting and was able to take himself to the same hospital where he was reported in good condition.
