Brenda Robinson is the second child of five, born to Herman and Melva Robinson. She is the oldest daughter and was the only daughter for 11 years.
She has always been a dreamer, looking at things as they are, but seeing them differently. While others were talking, she looks at them closely as if to see their hearts.
Brenda is a very creative person. She learned how to knit by watching a lady on the bus each morning on her way to school during her freshman year. She went home that day, got two pencils and some string, and began to knit. In her first year of school, she won first place speed typing in her business class and realized that her hands were gifts from God.
Since she was 19, Brenda has created all types of greeting cards, invitations, obituaries, anything paper-related, knitted, and crocheted. She started a home-based business, KDDAD, Inc., named after her grandchildren Kyla, Destiny, Darius, Aniya, and Dariah.
Her passion is mentoring young ladies between the ages of 12 and 18. Each year, on Valentine’s Day, she sponsors a brunch, where the theme is usually from a secular song, with scripture support. She invites speakers who, preferably, have gone through or are familiar with the topic. An example of the brunches’ topics is “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” along with the scripture is John 3:16!
Having been writing a book for over 20 years titled “If I Could Talk To Your Daughters,” a story of her life experiences as a teenage mom, Brenda feels that taking this journalism class will help her finish her book.
She loves giving of her time and talent. She can be found at various sites in the city, feeding the homeless.
