Disney officially confirms that the “Book of Boba Fett” will premier in December of this year. The show is slated to be released on Dec. 29, 2021.

The show is a spinoff of “The Mandalorian,” one of the biggest hit shows on Disney+. There was a teaser for the show in the season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” whose third season is expected next year.

The show will star Temuera Morrison as the lead character Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen will reprise her role as Fennec Shand. The plot follows Boba Fett and Shand as they go back to Tatooine, where they have a business involving the land once belonging to Jabba the Hutt. A lot of people from the parent show are involved with “Book of Boba Fett.”

Jon Favreau is the creator of “The Mandalorian” and Dave Filoni is an executive producer. The “Book of Boba Fett” will follow “The Mandalorian” as the second live-action Star Wars series to be released on Disney+. There is a lot of hype around the series. “The Mandalorian” debuted to huge commercial and critical success.

Many fans embraced the series as a breath of fresh air from the main Star Wars movies. Audiences fell in love with Mando, the stoic main character from the show. Now with another fan favorite getting his own show, Boba Fett seems to be up for a similar fan treatment. It and other shows will continue to add to the universe that was set up by the first show.

Disney has additionally announced other productions that are in the works. Some shows are centered around more fan favorites like Obi-Wan Kenobi and “Ahsoka” being about Ahsoka Tano. Along with “Rangers of the New Republic,” Disney plans to produce 11 Star Wars series in the upcoming years. Fans are truly in for a treat.
