The cast and writer of “The Princess Bride” reunited to have a fundraiser to help the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Donations from the event will be given to the Democratic Party to fight against Donald Trump. This event happened on September 13, 2020.

To be part of this event, the cast is asking for donations with no minimum requirement. In 2016 Donald Trump won the State. The donation page states, “Anything you donate will be used to ensure that Trump loses Wisconsin.”

Elwes, who plays Westley, compared President Trump to the movie’s villain, Prince Humperdinck. He also tweeted about the event with the hashtag #DumpTrumperdinck.

Ted Cruz, a Republican senator, responded with one of the film’s most famous quotes, “Do you hear that Fezzik? That is the sound of ultimate suffering; my heart made that sound when the six-fingered man killed my father. Every ‘Princess Bride’ fan who wants to see that perfect movie preserved from Hollywood politics makes it now.”

Elwes responded to Senator Ted Cruz with a tweet stating, “If you only left the fire swap, you could join us.” Cruz said “Princess Bride” is his favorite movie. During the 2016 election Cruz used quotes from the movie as analogies to policy.
