Schools Do Nothing to Bullies Until Something Physical Happens

BulliesI’d like to share something with the public. You all know that I  advocate and mentor parents and youth.

So, I found out that Lake County Juvenile, the Prosecutors office and police have left the decisions up to the schools to settle bullying issues and things that kids do on video chats.

As we know, many schools do nothing when it comes to bullying, until something physically happens. By then, it may be too late.

There has been way too many children committing suicide because of being bullied. I am not in favor of punishing the bully especially when they are between seven to eleven years old.

Know that a bully is also a victim of circumstances. They react to what they know. Bullies rebel and behave in that manner because they have probably been abused at home, work or school. Where are their parents in all this? These are red flags that must be raised if we want to understand and work towards solving this social disfunction.

If a police report has been filed, the detective on the case may refer it to DCS/DCFS and they may open a CHINS case once they do some investigation on the family. This shows that the child may be in need of social services.

This does not sit in well with me. Schools need to be aware of such things and do something about it.

When parents are alarmed, they complained to the school, whose administrators are expected to take some form of action.

For a school to remove a student that has been bullying other students is quite a courageous act. However, teachers and administrators rarely taken action unless a police report is made.

A recent bullying report indicated that one child had revealed their private parts on a video chat. Without appropriate consequences, this student (bully) may repeat these actions at another school. For a school to just brush the incident aside is unacceptable.

Many times a parent gets reported to DCS/DCFS for a bruise that a child may have. Therefore, why are their no similar consequences for a child who has shown his/her private body parts on video chat? What are our schools really doing? Are they part of the problem or part of the solution? How can the bully get help? What are we really doing to him/her and for him/her?

Bullies are victims of circumstances!!

What are your thoughts on this?
