Las Vegas Mass Shooting

Las Vegas

On Sunday night, Oct. 1, 2017, a minimum of 59 people lost their lives at the country musical festival. An additional 527 people were injured in the gunfire during Jason Aldean’s performance.

The gunman, who was later found dead in his hotel room was 64-year-old Stephen Paddock. He fired a shower of bullets form the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and the Casino.

At 10:08 p.m. PT, on a Sunday, the massacre began at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Investigators found at least 23 firearms in the room where Paddock was staying and 19 more at his home.

Paddock started shooting while Aldean was onstage. Eyewitnesses expressed the terrifying scene of back-to-back bullets falling down from the 32nd floor, continuously for up to 10 minutes.

SWAT units flooded the upper floors of Mandalay Bay, approaching the room on the 32nd floor where the gunman was found, according to police. The gunman had 23 firearms, as well as military-style rifles.

On Thursday, Paddock checked into the hotel and put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door for three days. The hotel staff was trained to notice if anything looked suspicious. The gunman, brought at least 10 suitcases with him, according to the sheriff, he used that to bring the guns into the hotel without anyone having a clue.

When law enforcement ran a criminal check on Paddock, he had no type of criminal history. Even though the Islamic State group has declared that he was one of their followers, police cannot confirm.

President Donald Trump will be visiting Las Vegas, on Wednesday, to meet with families of the victims.
